There is nothing easier than getting to the Lake District by train! 

Travelers leaving Moscow or Tver need to purchase a ticket for the comfortable Lev Tolstoy train (Moscow - Helsinki) to the Vainikkala station. The night train "Lev Tolstoy" departs from the Leningradsky railway station after 22:00 and arrives at Vainikkala station at about 8:00.  The cost of one compartment ticket is about 70 euros.

Travelers leaving St. Petersburg need to buy a ticket for the Allegro high-speed train, leaving at about 6 am,  to the station " Vainikkala ". The cost of one ticket is about 40 euros.

Both trains arrive at Vainikkala station between 7:00 am - 9:00 am
Border and passport control on the Russian side is carried out on the train.

Border and passport control on the Finnish side is carried out at the premises of Vainikkala station.
